GEOTEX® synthetic mulching fabric is a non-woven polypropylene synthetic mulch. Indispensable for laying synthetic turf on loose soil, it is highly resistant and permeable. This 110 g/m² geotextile is a non-woven polypropylene fabric that’s easy to cut and install. GEOTEX® mulch has been specially selected for its quality and resistance when laying artificial turf. Not all geotextiles have the technical characteristics required for this purpose.
When preparing to lay artificial turf, the need for a mulching fabric will depend on the nature of your soil. On loose soil (earth, sand, gravel, etc.), it’s essential to use a geotextile. The installation process for a synthetic lawn in a garden will not be the same as for a concrete slab in a schoolyard.
GEOTEX® geotextile is laid after the soil has been prepared. After tightening the non-woven fabric, overlap the strips by 10 cm before fastening them to the ground with staples or nails. Laying at this point prevents the soil/sand mixture from mixing, and will prevent the roots of natural grass or weeds from growing. The stabilized sand is then placed on top of the GEOTEX® geotextile before compaction. The GEOTEX® geotextile is invisible to the naked eye, as it is used to construct the earthwork for the artificial turf installation. It stabilizes the whole by preventing the different layers from mixing, and provides a homogeneous surface for the future artificial turf.
